To enable airports to remain profitable in the face of increasing competition, they must examine the cost-effectiveness of their operations. EXPRESSO's coin-operated dispensing system permits service costs to be reduced significantly, as the baggage carts can only be removed after paying a fee or a deposit. In order to recover their deposit, the passengers must return the carts to a depot/dispensing station. What's more, the system prevents corridors and waiting areas being obstructed by abandoned baggage carts, thus reducing the risk of accidents.
